CAPTURED

People in prison drawing people who should be

For over a year, we asked people in prison to paint or draw people we felt should be in prison–the CEOs of companies destroying our environment, economy, and society.

Here are the results. Click on the images to see the crimes committed by both the companies and the artists.

We present this project to help expose crimes masquerading as commerce.

CEO & Chairman of Goldman Sachs

Lloyd Blankfein

Oversees a company engaged in:

  • Bribery

Gave executives of companies they took public shares at extra-low prices in exchange for future underwriting business

  • Mass deception and theft

Packaged toxic mortgages as legitimate and sold them to unsuspecting victims, costing municipalities and pension funds millions — simultaneously took short positions in the same market, betting against the same toxic packages they sold

  • Obstruction of Congress

The U.S. Senate panel investigating their role in the financial crisis found Goldman executives to have misled Congress — they did so brazenly, with no apparent fear of consequence

  • Securities fraud

Artificially inflated tech stock prices, allowing insiders to buy at lower prices while guaranteeing they can sell higher- this illegal stock manipulation fueled the tech bubble, and its bust

  • Stealing taxpayer money

After being bailed out with tens of billions in taxpayer money, moved their earnings to countries with low tax rates, deferring taxes on them indefinitely while claiming deductions on the same untaxed income
